About Vyoone's

Vyoone Segue Lewis was born into a family with four generations of Afro-Creoles and French ancestors from New Orleans. Her father is Canadian French and her mother is African American and Cherokee Indian. She is a Pediatric geneticist trained at Tulane University. Vyoone is a classical musician (clarinet and contrabass) who trained with Pete Fountain at the New Orleans Center of Creative Arts. She has strong ties to the community and the family of New Orleans. Vyoone has received several awards from the YWCA and the City of New Orleans for her commitment and dedication to empowering women in Louisiana.

She serves the New Orleans community as a Rotarian of the Rotary Club of New Orleans and as a board member of the NOLA Angel Network Board. She served on the Board of Directors for New Orleans Health Corporation where she was Director of Special Health Care Programs. She has served on national advisory boards for several medical organizations and has trained national and international clinicians thru her work with the Human Genome Project. She has numerous publications accredited to her work and collaboration with other scholars to advance science and medicine in public health. Vyoone is a 'diehard' member of the Who Dat Nation and enjoys all things Saints with her family and friends. Vyoone has one son Noah who is her greatest accomplishment and loves taking care of her Mom Esther. Vyoone was named by New Orleans City Business in Power 25:Tourism & Hospitality 2021.
